## Default answer

Example with the default inputs (Items 1,000, Stack size 64): 1,000 items is 15 stacks + 40.

## Inputs

| Key | Label | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| n | Items | How many items you have or need. |
| s | Stack size | How many of the item fit in one slot: 64 for most blocks, 16 for items such as ender pearls. |

## Outputs

| Key | Label | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| summary | Stacks | Whole stacks plus the items left over, for example 15 stacks + 40. |
| stacks | Whole stacks | ⌊items ÷ stack size⌋. |
| rest | Items left over | Items − whole stacks × stack size. |
| slots | Slots needed | ⌈items ÷ stack size⌉. |
| decimal | Stacks as a decimal | Items ÷ stack size. |
| shulkers | Shulker boxes or chests | ⌈slots ÷ 27⌉: a shulker box or a single chest holds 27 slots. |
| doubles | Double chests | ⌈slots ÷ 54⌉: a large chest holds 54 slots. |

## Method

stacks = ⌊items ÷ size⌋; left over = items − stacks × size; slots = ⌈items ÷ size⌉; shulker boxes = ⌈slots ÷ 27⌉; double chests = ⌈slots ÷ 54⌉.

## Assumptions

- Every slot is filled to the full stack size before the next is used.
- A chest and a shulker box hold 27 slots; a double chest 54.

## FAQ

### How many items are in a stack in Minecraft?

Most blocks and items stack to 64. Some, such as ender pearls, snowballs, eggs and signs, stack to 16. Tools, armor and potions do not stack.

### How many stacks is 1,000 items?

1,000 ÷ 64 = 15.625: 15 full stacks (960 items) and 40 left over, so 16 slots.

### How many items fit in a shulker box?

A shulker box has 27 slots, so 27 × 64 = 1,728 items that stack to 64, or 27 × 16 = 432 that stack to 16.

### How many items fit in a double chest?

A double (large) chest has 54 slots: 54 × 64 = 3,456 items that stack to 64.

### How do I count stacks from items by hand?

Divide by the stack size and keep the whole part for full stacks; the remainder is the items left over. Round the division up for the slots used.
