How to calculate
Counts how long you have been married or together in years, months and days, and gives the date of your next anniversary, which one it is and the next milestone.
Example with the default inputs (Wedding date June 20, 2015, Count from October 5, 2026) on the example date Monday, October 5, 2026: Your 12th anniversary is on Sunday, June 20, 2027, in 258 days.
Method: next anniversary = the wedding date plus the fewest whole years (at least 1) on or after the count-from date; days until = next − count-from date; time together = whole years, months, days.
- A February 29 wedding date has its anniversary on February 28 in common years.
- On the anniversary itself the count is 0 and that anniversary is the next one.
- Milestones are the 1st, every 5th up to the 80th, with the traditional names in Wikipedia’s list; names vary by country.

How it works
Dates are Gregorian calendar days (1600 to 2400) with no time of day.
- Next anniversary: the wedding date plus the fewest whole years n (at least 1) that is on or after the count-from date. Adding years keeps the month and day; February 29 becomes February 28 in a common year.
- Days until = next anniversary − count-from date (0 on the day).
- Which anniversary = n, as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on (11th, 12th, 13th end in "th").
- Time together: whole years, then whole months, then days from the wedding date to the count-from date. A month end clamps: January 31 plus one month is February 28 or 29. Not shown on the wedding day itself.
- Days together = count-from date − wedding date.
- Next milestone: the first of 1, 5, 10, 15, … 80 that is n or more, with its traditional name: 1 paper, 5 wood, 10 tin, 15 crystal, 20 china, 25 silver, 30 pearl, 35 coral, 40 ruby, 45 sapphire, 50 gold, 55 emerald, 60 diamond, 65 blue sapphire, 70 platinum, 75 diamond and gold, 80 oak. Past the 80th no milestone is shown. Its date is the wedding date plus that many years.
- A wedding date after the count-from date gives no answer.

Married June 20, 2015, counted from October 5, 2026. 2026 − 2015 = 11, but June 20, 2026 has passed, so the next is the 12th, on June 20, 2027, 258 days away. Together: 11 years to June 20, 2026, 3 months to September 20, 15 days to October 5; 4,125 days. Next milestone: 15th (crystal), June 20, 2030.
Married October 5, 2001, counted from October 5, 2026. The 25th (silver) anniversary is today: 0 days, together exactly 25 years.
Married February 29, 2004, counted from March 1, 2026. The 22nd fell on February 28, 2026, so the next is the 23rd, on February 28, 2027 (2027 is not a leap year), 364 days away. Next milestone: 25th (silver) on February 28, 2029.

How do I work out which anniversary is next?
Subtract the wedding year from this year. If this year’s anniversary has not come yet, that is the next one; if it has passed, add 1. A June 20, 2015 wedding has its 12th anniversary on June 20, 2027 when counted from October 2026.

Count whole years from the wedding date, then whole months, then days. From June 20, 2015 to October 5, 2026 is 11 years, 3 months and 15 days, or 4,125 days.
When is the anniversary of a February 29 wedding?
