What is my KD ratio?

Type your kills and deaths, and your assists if you want a KDA. The KD calculator gives your kill–death ratio and, for a target K/D, how many kills in a row you need to reach it.

Your numbers

K/D ratio
1.25

1,250 kills and 1,000 deaths is a K/D of 1.25.

Kills in a row to reach the target
250

K/D ratio: 1.25. 1,250 kills and 1,000 deaths is a K/D of 1.25.

How to calculate

Works out your kill–death ratio (K/D) and KDA from kills, deaths and assists, and how many kills in a row you need to reach a target K/D.

Example with the default inputs (Kills 1,250, Deaths 1,000, Target K/D 1.5): 1,250 kills and 1,000 deaths is a K/D of 1.25.

Method: K/D = kills ÷ deaths; KDA = (kills + assists) ÷ deaths; zero deaths count as 1. Kills needed = the smallest whole n ≥ 0 with (kills + n) ÷ deaths ≥ target.

  • Zero deaths count as one death, as most game scoreboards show it, so the K/D is the kill count.
  • The kills needed assume no more deaths along the way.
  • KDA here adds assists in full. Some games count an assist as half a kill.

  4. Kills 100, Deaths 3, Target K/D 33.5 gives K/D ratio 33.333333, Kills in a row to reach the target 1.

How it works

Kills, deaths and assists are whole numbers. Let D be the deaths, or 1 when the deaths are 0.

  • K/D = kills ÷ D.
  • KDA = (kills + assists) ÷ D, shown only when you type assists.
  • Kills in a row to reach the target: the smallest whole number n of 0 or more with (kills + n) ÷ D ≥ target. That is n = ⌈target × D − kills⌉, or 0 when you already meet the target. The target is used as the exact decimal you type.

Assumptions

  • Zero deaths count as one death.
  • The kills needed assume you do not die again on the way.
  • Each assist counts in full in the KDA.

Worked examples by hand

16 kills, 4 deaths. K/D = 16 ÷ 4 = 4.

1,250 kills, 1,000 deaths, 300 assists, target 1.5. K/D = 1,250 ÷ 1,000 = 1.25. KDA = 1,550 ÷ 1,000 = 1.55. Target: 1.5 × 1,000 = 1,500 kills, so 250 more.

7 kills, 0 deaths, target 2. D = 1, so K/D = 7. 7 is already above 2: 0 more.

100 kills, 3 deaths, target 33.5. K/D = 100 ÷ 3 = 33.33. 33.5 × 3 = 100.5, so 101 kills: 1 more.

Other questions people ask

How do you calculate K/D?

Divide kills by deaths. 16 kills and 4 deaths is a K/D of 16 ÷ 4 = 4. A K/D of 1 means you defeat as many opponents as defeat you.

What is KDA?

KDA adds your assists to your kills before dividing by deaths: (kills + assists) ÷ deaths. 1,250 kills, 300 assists and 1,000 deaths is a KDA of 1.55.

What is my K/D with zero deaths?

Dividing by zero has no answer, so most scoreboards count zero deaths as one. With 7 kills and no deaths, the K/D is 7.

How many kills do I need to raise my K/D?

To reach a target K/D without dying again, you need target × deaths kills in all, rounded up. With 1,250 kills and 1,000 deaths, a 1.5 K/D needs 1,500 kills: 250 more in a row.

What is a good K/D ratio?

A K/D of 1 is even. Above 1 means you win more fights than you lose; in most shooters 1.5 or more is well above the average player.

Do assists count toward K/D?

No. K/D counts only kills and deaths. Assists count in KDA, and some games count an assist as half a kill there; this page counts each assist in full.
